Fume extraction torch xFUME® PRO HD
The robust ones for extra long duty cycles and high welding currents
Even when welding thick sheets, you don't have to do without fume extraction: The reliable MIG/MAG fume extraction torches of the xFUME® PRO series from ABICOR BINZEL are now also available in an HD version. HD stands for Heavy Duty, which means multiple and repeated impacts that occur during welding and affect the welding torch.
Compared to the xFUME® PRO fume extraction torches, the xFUME® PRO HD fume extraction torches have better heat absorption and heat dissipation and therefore a higher temperature resistance and longer service life. Additional further developments of individual components also provide this MIG/MAG extraction torch range with greater stability. To summarise, the xFUME® PRO HD fume extraction torches are the ideal tools for welding thick sheets.
Even in difficult working conditions, nobody has to do without a healthy workplace!
xFUME® PRO HD fume extraction torch: Features
The xFUME® PRO HD fume extraction torches work in the same way as all other welding torches with extraction at source according to the principle of a high vacuum system. In this process, a low volume flow rate flows at a high static vacuum. This requires an extraction system that is suitable for extraction at source. If the extraction torch and extraction system are optimally matched to each other, an ideal shielding gas coverage is always achieved with efficient absorption of the fumes.
Welding thick sheet metal, for example in heavy engineering, construction and general manufacturing, places special demands on a fume extraction torch. A lot of filler metal is applied to the weld joint at high temperatures, and seams are often welded "non-stop". The load on the fume extraction torch is immense. The strain on the welding specialist is just as high.
In order to counteract both sides – technical and human stress – significant adjustments were made to design the fume extraction torch for maximum loads. As with product optimisations in general, ABICOR BINZEL also received feedback from companies, examined and implemented it according to technical possibilities.
The result is greater stability and strength of the extraction torch front end thanks to the steel extraction nozzle. The specially developed HD gas nozzle also provides better temperature resistance, resulting in a longer service life for the MIG/MAG fume extraction torch in general, as well as a more robust power cable. The ball joint mount has also been optimised, giving the extraction torch a longer service life. The bend protection has been stabilised so that even higher tensile loads are no problem.
Wear parts
Apart from the special HD gas nozzle and the extraction nozzle, all wear and spare parts are identical to those of the standard xFUME® PRO fume extraction torches. Therefore, if you are using xFUME® PRO extraction torches, you do not need any additional contact tips or contact tip holders for the xFUME® PRO HD extraction torch series. Furthermore, you can use the special HD gas nozzle as well as the steel extraction nozzle just as well in the standard xFUME® PRO torch range if required.
Innovations to the point
The xFUME® PRO HD fume extraction torches do not score through higher performance, but through optimisation of individual components. These are in detail:
- 1- Extraction nozzle made of steel instead of aluminum for greater strength and stability at the front end
- 2- Specially developed HD gas nozzle for better temperature resistance and longer service life
- 3- More robust, more stable power cable
- 4- Improved trigger seal for high dirt resistance
- 5- Optimised ball joint mount for a longer service life
- (not fig.)- Sturdy bend protection for higher tensile load
All in all, the adaptations to high temperature loads and above-average welding times make the xFUME® PRO HD fume extraction torches more stable, more robust, more temperature-resistant and more durable. Welding seams "non-stop" at high currents is no longer a problem with this extraction torch series.

Note on liquid cooled torches:
To protect the cable assembly components from overheating, we recommend a cooling system run-on time of at least four minutes.
Extracting fumes directly at the point of origin is the safest extraction technology to protect people in the immediate vicinity from dangerous welding fumes. However, simply connecting an extraction torch to a random extraction system is not a good solution. The extraction torch and extraction system must be compatible. If this is not the case, too much shielding gas can be extracted unintentionally. On the other hand, there is also a risk that the welding fumes will not be captured sufficiently.
All xFUME® PRO HD fume extraction torches can be optimally operated with mobile extraction systems from ABICOR BINZEL. These are in detail:
With the so-called W3 devices, you can even safely weld materials that pose a health risk, such as chrome-nickel steels. These welding fume extraction systems have a special filter system. This allows you to return the cleaned air directly to the work area in accordance with TRGS 528 (Technical Rules for Hazardous Substances, Welding Work). This is subject to the regional regulations on the removal of welding fumes, which you must familiarise yourself with.
It is up to you to make an important contribution to health and safety at work, even when welding thick sheet metal with high temperatures and long welding times. With the xFUME® PRO HD fume extraction torches from ABICOR BINZEL, you are taking the lead when it comes not only to the perfect weld seam, but also to the safety of your workers and a healthy workplace.
