Spool welding robot SWR-F: easier & faster slip-on flange welding
Automated flange welding is easy with the SWR-F pipe welding robot. The SWR-F welds multi-layer fillet welds without having to stop or reposition between the layers. This maximizes arc-on time.
The spool welding robot SWR-F enhances the capabilities of the MIG/MAG-SWR by positioning the arm optimally for fillet welding on rotating pipes. Various types of flanges require multi-pass fillet welds both inside and outside where they connect to the pipe. SWR-F can perform these multi-pass welds continuously without pausing or repositioning. It maximizes arc-on time by minimizing the setup time for transitioning from a butt welding position to a fillet welding position in less than three minutes.

Features
- The SWR-F system is compatible with standard SWR™ setups (Lincoln single, dual, and HyperFill®)
- The added axis allows the welding torch and vision system to rotate from their central position through control from the main operator HMI within a range of +/- 50 degrees relative to the horizontal robot arm
- The camera view on the HMI screen adjusts according to the angle.
- When the fillet axis is not rotated (in the home position), the machine operates like a regular SWR
- When the SWR is rotated for fillet welding, the machine’s Autonomy or Assist functions (NovEye® Autonomy, NovEye® Assist, automatic distance control, RPM) are not available
Fillet welding with the SWR-F is currently a mechanized process. The operator makes manual adjustments using the controls to complete the weld.
