Ceramic spray – anti-spatter agent for gas nozzles
During manual MIG welding and MAG welding, weld spatter is difficult to avoid. Spatter consists of small metal droplets that are released from the molten pool or flung away from the hot liquid end of the electrode. These particles literally shoot in all directions and land on the workpiece, the clamping elements – if these are used – as well as on or in the gas nozzle itself and adhere there. The gas nozzle and the inner wear parts – the contact tip, contact tip holder and gas diffusor – are closest to the welding process and directly exposed to the flying metal droplets. The clogging of the wear parts with weld spatter is often difficult to detect or even noticed too late and if unnoticed, can swirl the gas flow to such an extent that the weld seam is insufficiently protected. As a result, tiny pores form in the weld seam, which initially occur unnoticed. Therefore, wear parts should be protected with a good anti-spatter agent so that they can be used as long as possible and the required gas coverage is always guaranteed. One of the best anti-spatter sprays on the market especially for gas nozzles & co. is the ceramic spray from ABICOR BINZEL.
This ceramic spray is ideal for the welding processes with a long duty cycle and guarantees excellent adhesion and coating on the gas nozzle, contact tip, contact tip holder and gas diffusor. With the corresponding spray attachment – the coating cap – optimum spraying and high coverage of the anti-spatter spray are achieved. In addition, no spray residues and propellants are released unnecessarily into the environment. Wear parts of MIG/MAG welding torches are always optimally protected against spatter adhesion with the ceramic spray from ABICOR BINZEL for "heavy-duty use".
Why ceramic spray from ABICOR BINZEL?
Welding spatter that occurs during MIG welding and MAG welding can also settle on the gas nozzle and on the wear parts such as the contact tip, contact tip holder and gas diffusor. These particles cause turbulence in the gas flow, which then is no longer laminar to the process and thus affects the reliable shielding gas coverage. Best is to prevent the build-up of weld spatter as much as possible right before welding. With the ceramic spray from ABICOR BINZEL, a fast-drying and uniform ceramic layer is applied to every surface of gas nozzles regardless of their material, making it much more difficult for weld spatter to adhere. The composition of the ABICOR BINZEL ceramic spray guarantees excellent adhesion of the ceramic particles to the sprayed wear parts – visible through the white high-temperature resistant multilayer protective film – and enables very long-lasting spatter protection. Particles adhering after welding can be easily removed by lightly tapping the torch front end.
With ceramic spray from ABICOR BINZEL, the service life and thus the durability of the wear parts and the welding torch are considerably increased during MIG/MAG welding.
Ceramic spray: ideal anti-spatter spray for heavy-duty use
Compared to other anti-spatter sprays, the ceramic spray from ABICOR BINZEL lasts significantly longer on the wear parts at the front end of the torch. Especially when welding with high currents of between 300 and 500 amperes and CO2 or CO2 mixed gas, the ceramic spray clearly surpasses other anti-spatter sprays in terms of durability. This anti-spatter agent remains reliably on the gas nozzle, contact tip, etc. – even during overhead welding.
Ceramic coating cap for the perfect spray
The ceramic coating cap enables safe and economical spraying of the ceramic protective coating. This spray attachment for the ABICOR BINZEL ceramic spray ensures a targeted, time-saving coating of the wear parts.
The inner contour of this cap is specially designed for gas nozzle geometries and ensures optimum spraying on the areas to be protected. This not only saves costs, but also has a positive effect on the health of the welders and the environment.
While the ceramic spray is a special anti-spatter agent for the wear parts like the gas nozzle, contact tip, contact tip holder and gas diffuser, there are also anti-adhesive sprays especially for the workpiece. With ABIBLUE NF, ABICOR BINZEL offers such an anti-spatter agent especially for the application of a protective layer against welding spatter for the workpiece only.
If an anti-spatter agent is required for workpieces and gas nozzle as well as all wear parts, the Super Pistolenspray NF from ABICOR BINZEL offers an excellent solution. This anti-spatter spray can even be used on the clamping elements as a protective coating.
Effect of ceramic spray as anti-spatter agent
Ceramic is known for its very smooth surface with little frictional resistance. The ceramic particles sprayed on very finely with the ceramic spray form an extremely smooth multilayer protective coating on the surface of the wetted wear parts and allow weld spatter to either bounce off directly or adhere only slightly so that it can simply be tapped off again. The binder of the ceramic spray, which has been specially optimised for high-temperature use, ensures strong adhesion also when welding with high currents or even long welding times. The gas nozzle needs to be sprayed less often – also because the ceramic coating cap ensures optimum distribution of the ceramic particles.
Fields of application of the ceramic spray
When welding with high currents and long duty cycles, the ABICOR BINZEL ceramic spray is the best choice to prevent the adhesion of weld spatter during MIG welding and MAG welding. These properties make the ceramic spray the ideal anti-spatter agent for the protection of the gas nozzle and also the internal wear parts such as the contact tip, contact tip holder and gas diffusor when welding with high amperage is required.
Composition of the anti-spatter agent for gas nozzles
The basis for the highly effective anti-spatter properties of this anti-spatter spray is boron nitride, one of the most important industrial ceramics for high-performance applications. One spray of the ceramic spray from ABICOR BINZEL forms a multilayer protective coating on the wetted surfaces. This produces a multitude of microscopically thin ceramic layers. The network structure of these layers is preserved by a special binder. This binder is used because of its good adhesion to gas nozzles of welding torches and its high temperature resistance. The composition with boron nitride, which provides a temperature resistance of 1400 °C, creates a highly heat-resistant anti-spatter spray for preparing gas nozzle & co. for welding.
The properties of the ABICOR BINZEL ceramic spray:
